About the Business
Acupuncture works as a ‘triad of treatment’ alongside herbal medicine and in depth consultation. A complete system of healing is created by the combination of:
- Acupuncture – Influencing structural levels of the body through muscles, bones and nerves.
- Herbal Medicines – Natural plant compounds interact on a biochemical level within the body.
- Consultation – Mental re-structuring and support to bring about resolution.
At The Herbal Clinic acupuncture is used in conjunction with consultation and herbal medication to form a strong and structured treatment program. We consider that no disease is incurable, though successful treatment will depend on a patient attitude that is motivated to play their part in the process of healing.

At the Herbal Clinic
Acupuncture is practiced in The Herbal Clinic, both to enhance systemic treatment and repair injuries to the joints or tissue. For chronic diseases, needling provides an additional tool to hasten results. Immediate relief is often seen regarding pain and mobility.
Meilyr James is a third generation herbalist with a strong grounding in understanding and treating the root cause of a patient’s disease. He has used acupuncture since 2010, originally with the specific intent to heal physical injuries. Following the completion of training, however, the scope of healing proved far wider and its application is used for a wide range of conditions.
Acupuncture can be seen as part of a triad of health. Further to this, the Herbal Clinic uses Iridology, physical examination and an array of diagnostic tools to assist in treatment. For further details, see ‘what we offer’ at our main site.
Any illness for which one may visit a doctor can be treated with acupuncture. Common conditions include lower back pain, knee injuries and a frozen shoulder.
Treatment at The Herbal Clinic is unique as western herbs are used in the form of freshly made elixirs. These can be kept in the fridge for up to two months, which patients find more convenient than the boiling and preparation required with Chinese herbal medicines.
Patient support is fundamental to the clinic ethos. Between consultations our trained and experienced staff are available for advice and guidance and Mr James can be contacted whenever necessary. The Clinic is open during normal working hours from Monday to Friday. All queries are dealt with immediately.
