Traditional Acupuncture enables the body, mind and spirit to heal itself, as far as nature will allow. In Chinese medicine any illness or symptom, either physical, mental or of the spirit, is associated with an imbalance of the person's vital life energy, or Qi. When the body sends out distress signals in the form of symptoms it is a sign that there is an imbalance of Qi, which needs to be rebalanced to restore health.
This principle of traditional acupuncture is important because it means the underlying cause of the disease is being dealt with rather than the symptoms merely being suppressed only to reappear in the future. As well as dealing with the patient's condition by restoring the overall balance of energy, because traditional acupuncture is holistic and treats everyone as an individual it would be expected that a person might feel better in a general way, promoting an improved quality of life, energy and general well being.

Acupuncture:
There are acupuncture points in the ears which, when needled, are very effective in reducing cravings and side effects of detoxification, like mood swings and irritability. This can be helpful with most types of addiction such as smoking, alcohol and drugs.
Craniosacral Therapy:
Craniosacral Therapy involves applying an extremely gentle pressure to assess the subtle movements in the body's tissues. These movements are affected by physical and emotional conditions. The tissues of the body contract with physical knocks and emotional stresses. If this is severe the tissues stay contracted and this shows up in the way the craniosacral rhythm is felt by a Craniosacral Therapist. Unless rectified this may manifest itself physically (such as back pain, digestive problems, migraine, etc) and/or emotionally (such as anxiety and depression).
Treatment is carried out with the person lying flat, fully clothed, and is usually described as extremely relaxing. It can be carried out on people of all ages. It is particularly helpful for new born babies (whether delivered "normally", or assisted with forceps etc, or by Caesarean section).
Reiki:
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning "Universal Life Energy". Reiki Healing (pronounced ray-key) is a very simple system of healing, carried out by placing hands on or over a person (who is fully clothed and lying on a treatment couch), with the intention of channelling Reiki. Reiki heals on all levels, physically, mentally and spiritually and supports the body's natural ability to heal itself.
