From today, patients and the public will be able to choose an acupuncturist belonging to a register vetted and approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. The BAcC's members have been accredited under a new scheme set up by the Department of Health and administered by an independent body which is accountable to Parliament.
Having been involved in learning and teaching martial arts for the past 20 years it became a natural progression for me to learn a system of healing and helping others. Having personal experience of the effects of acupuncture for the long term treatment of chronic lower back pain, I decided to learn how to be an acupuncturist. In 2007 I was successful in applying to the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading (one of the most highly regarded acupuncture colleges in Europe) to start 3 and a half years training in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
These 3 and a half years ended up changing my life in so many ways.
