About the Business
I initially trained in the Person Centred Approach and started working as a counsellor in the NHS in 1994. Firstly in York and then in 1997 at North Manchester General Hospital as a Counsellor Specialist in their infectious diseases unit. Between 1997 and 2005 I trained in an approach called Process Work or Process Oriented Psychology. This involved training in psychotherapy, relationship work, group process work, conflict resolution and working with physical symptoms.
In 2005 I received my accreditation by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which I have maintained ever since. I therefore work to their ethical framework, complaints procedure and continuing professional development (CPD) requirements. In 2006 I left the NHS to begin my Herbal Medicine training at the University of Central Lancashire, qualifying in 2009 with a first class degree in herbal medicine.
